The SME Climate Hub Releases a New Carbon Calculator for Small Businesses to Measure Their Emissions and Take Climate Action for Free
The SME Climate Hub has launched the Small Business Carbon Calculator, completing its new carbon measurement offering in partnership with Equipoise and Emitwise. This simple, accessible, and free tool helps small businesses start their journey to measuring their carbon footprint. Designed specifically for businesses with between 1 and 50 employees and a single operating site, the calculator measures Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. By removing cost barriers to measurement, small businesses can focus on building effective decarbonization strategies backed by accurate emissions data.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 50% of global GDP and 40% of business sector emissions. Facilitating their climate action is pivotal to the net zero transition, and the SME Climate Hub is committed to empowering SMEs to understand and reduce their emissions. Through its partnership with Equipoise and Emitwise, the SME Climate Hub offers free carbon calculators for SMEs around the world to measure their operational and supply chain emissions and understand their highest emitting areas.
The Small Business Carbon Calculator is the third tool in the SME Climate Hub’s new comprehensive carbon measurement suite. Earlier this year, the initiative launched the Advanced Business Carbon Calculator, tailored for SMEs with multiple sites and complex operations, and the Scope 3 Specific Calculator, which helps SMEs analyze supply chain emissions through procurement data, set targets and drive decarbonization. Together, these free tools remove the financial barriers to carbon measurement, enabling SMEs to focus their resources on implementing tangible emissions reductions.
Pamela Jouven, Director of the SME Climate Hub, said: “With the launch of the Small Business Carbon Calculator, the SME Climate Hub now offers free carbon measurement tools to meet the diverse needs of SMEs of all sizes and at every stage of their sustainability journey. Accurate emissions data is the foundation for effective climate action, and empowering small businesses to measure and reduce their emissions is crucial to helping them play their part in tackling climate change.”
Luke Abbott, Co-Founder and CEO of Equipoise, added: “By powering the SME Climate Hub’s Small Business Carbon Calculator, we’re providing SMEs who are embarking on their journey a comprehensive and easy to use tool to measure emissions, identify hotspots, meet customer and regulatory reporting requirements, and focus on implementing emission reduction initiatives.”
Ian Hind, Head of Partnerships at Emitwise added: “Providing SMEs with accessible tools to measure and reduce their emissions is critical to driving real supply chain decarbonization. Through our partnership with the SME Climate Hub, we’re enabling small businesses to take control of their carbon impact. The expansion of the Hub’s free suite of tools ensures even more SMEs can start decarbonizing, helping to accelerate meaningful climate action across supply chains.”
